Hi! I’m Hilary, a Senior UX Designer based in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, I design user experiences for the digital product portfolio at Nikola Corporation, where we’re on a mission to transform the future of commerce. Our focus is on creating zero-tailpipe emission vehicles—both battery-electric and hydrogen-electric—along with energy storage systems and hydrogen fueling infrastructure.
As a designer, I thrive on the challenge of understanding human behavior and the intricacies of how people interact with the world around them. With a background in photography, I’ve always been captivated by the power of visual storytelling and how design can communicate complex ideas in ways that resonate with audiences on an emotional level. This love for crafting stories through visuals naturally evolved into a passion for user experience design, where I could combine creativity with empathy to solve real-world problems.
Four years ago, I made the transition to UX design to immerse myself in a field that is not only future-focused and intellectually stimulating but also impactful on a larger scale. I’m drawn to the process of refining and iterating, constantly growing as a designer, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to create experiences that are not just functional but meaningful. For me, UX design is about more than just problem-solving—it's about fostering connections, simplifying complexities, and improving lives.
I believe that design is a powerful tool for empathy. By deeply understanding the needs, goals, and challenges of users, we can craft experiences that not only meet their expectations but elevate their overall quality of life. It’s this belief in design’s transformative potential that fuels my passion every day. I love collaborating with cross-functional teams to explore innovative solutions, tapping into a diversity of expertise to ensure that every project I work on is not only visually compelling but also strategically sound and user-centered.
Whether it’s through research, prototyping, or testing, my goal is to create thoughtful, intuitive, and engaging experiences that make the world a little more connected, efficient, and sustainable. With each project, I strive to grow both as a designer and as a human being—constantly learning, refining, and challenging myself to think bigger and design better.
